Hold Me Back!!!

May 29, 2012

The mantra of the NBA on-court combatant.

Cue the air boxing.

Still, NBAers want to look hard.  They bring guns into the locker room.  They clothesline the neck of a defenseless dood going otherwise unimpeded to the hoop, “bump” into refs, taunt from the safety of the last seat on the bench and generally ass it up.

Not all of them (‘sup D Rose?), but enough.

The best ambassadors of the game understand that there is no quarter asked or given (within the defined confines of the competition on the court) style of play and then there is just fucked up stupid shit that ruins the game.  We all know the difference.  If you don’t, I don’t know what to tell you.

Inbounding the ball directly into the schnoz of a defender who isn’t paying attention?  Gamesmanship.  Legal, but unsporting.

Throwing a ball at an opponent who isn’t paying attention to you during a stoppage in play?  Hit the showers.

Intentionally throwing head-level elbows in the scrum?  Douchebag.  Do it again?  Have a rep?  Hit the showers.

Still, you gotta be hard.  Maybe some sweet chest-to-chest dancing?

My first reaction was that KG had finally become stone.  Like a cager fan obelisk.  Or those angels from Dr. Who that only seem to move when you aren’t looking at them.

I guess this is taunting.  Or maybe it’s getting taunted.  Who Made Who.

That almost made me a Lebron fan.  Maybe not almost.  Maybe not even a little.

Shit, you still have to laugh at poor Kevin.  He couldn’t do much else.  The Heat were pounding them.

I feel for the guy.  I know exactly the kind non-NBA sanctioned defense he would like to employ.

Nevertheless, rules are rules.  They are there for a reason.

At least someone in the NBA is actually going to play it out on the court.

Famous last words?  Who gets tossed in the next game?

Like I care.

I just watch this on loop.

I can’t stand KG, but I still hope he sends a little “message” to LeBron.

I’m all for it. LeBron probably is as well. I think “Have a personal rivalry” is No. 32 on his “Steps to Becoming a goat” chart.
