Go Cubs, Go

I am going to take a breather from railing on the Chicago Cubs and their glacial approach to winning a MLB Championship.

They went and did an video (check it out)

The Cubs are sending a message of support to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth, becoming only the second professional sports team in the country to join the anti-bullying “It Gets Better” campaign.

The video joins thousands of others posted on the website, launched in 2010 by syndicated columnist Dan Savage and his partner as a response to the high rate of suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) teens.

The San Francisco Giants were the first professional sports team to join the “It Gets Better” campaign, and several other Major League Baseball teams have signed up to produce similar videos.

I’ve already seen the team catch some flack for this from the usual rejects.  They should have seen this coming when the Cubs were bought by the Ricketts family, which made them claim to be the first gay-owned professional sports team.  I say claim because I don’t know that anyone vetted all the owners of the Green Bay Packers (a non-profit, community owned franchise with over 100,000 owners of nearly 5 million shares) to determine their sexual preferences.

To those rejects that need to make something negative of the effort (and the Cubs’ involvement in it), I offer you this….get the fuck over it already.

To the team…if you think this kind of hullabaloo will get anyone off your back for never winning a fucking World Series, you are quite wrong.

To the rest of you….no, I’m not going to make a “cub” joke.  Get off you lazy ass and come up with your own.

However!  I am going to put the faggy-ass Cubs song (2011 version!) here to torture everyone.

It somehow sounds so much better on a late weekday afternoon after the Cubs miraculously won a game and you’re staggering drunkenly to the closest hipster-free tavern.
